We see this most clearly in the scientific method. Which starts with whole living organisms and systems. It then breaks them apart, isolates the pieces and studies its fragments in controlled conditions.

This philosophy of dissection became how we approach everything: education, medicine, to psychology, to organizations, and even economies. Our systems have trained people to analyze, dissect, disconnect, and separate. At the same time they have trained them out of synthesizing, connecting and integrating.
